The Connecticut State Conference AAUP was formed March 24, 1962. Today, it represents the 16 collective bargaining and advocacy AAUP chapters across the state, individual at-large members at CT colleges and universities without current chapters, and the CT Emeritus Assembly (see CT chapters here).
The CT State Conference helps local chapters navigate issues on campus, facilitates communication between AAUP members in CT, and supports all CT AAUP members.
Through our Chapter Service Program, we assist chapters with membership organizing, institutional censure and Committee A (Academic Freedom and Tenure) consultation and support, shared governance documents, chapter leadership training, institutional financial analysis, and travel support. We hold AAUP conferences in Connecticut, and we support attendance at National and Biennial AAUP meetings, AAUP Summer Institutes for chapter leadership, Coalition of Contingent Academic Labor (COCAL) Conferences, and other academic conferences. We publish the newsletter Vanguard and we maintain a mailing list for all CT AAUP members that provides news and information. We also provide support and resources for individual at-large members and support the CT Emeritus Assembly.
Check out our Support and Grants for more detail. Funding for our work is provided by dues from the Connecticut AAUP Collective Bargaining chapters. The Robert Bard Legal Defense Fund, and the George E. Lang Jr. Award are privately funded.
